Participants in the study were South Auckland school children and their parents. They viewed physical activity and play quite differently, thinking physical activity was ‘good for you’, rather than ‘being fun’. This seemed to be a barrier to children getting involved in physical activity.
Other barriers to increasing physical activity levels in these children included time, money and transport.
